The mission of the Federal Ministry of Education mission in offering BEA Awards for Nigerians to Study Abroad is to use education to enhance the development of all Citizens of Nigeria to their maximum potentials in the building of strong indivisible democratic, egalitarian prosperous, indissoluble sovereign nation. To achieve this particular dream, the Federal Government of Nigeria have offered the BEA scholarship to the student who wants to study outside the Country.
Scholarship is to be taken outside Nigeria in any of the listed countries.
Undergraduate studies is tenable in countries like, Serbia, Hungary, Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Turkey, Cuba, Japan, Macedonia; Romania, Ukraine, and
And postgraduate studies is to be taken in countries like China, Hungary, Serbia, Russia (for those students whose obtained their first degree in Russia), Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, etc)
Eligible Study Level/Field
The BEA Awards for Nigeria students o study abroad are available to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
Undergraduate level – Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Geology,
Mathematics, Sports, Law, Social, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Sciences, Medicine (very limited), Biotechnology, Architecture, etc and
All fields in postgraduate levels are accepted
The BEA award for Nigerian students studying abroad East open to only international Nigerian students who have studying outside Nigeria
General Eligibility Requirements
All interested applicants for undergraduate degree programmes must possess a qualification of not less than Five (5) Distinctions in the SSCE/WAEC (May/June) only in all the subjects relevant to their program of study where English Language and Mathematics must be included.
Certificate more than two years old are not accepted
For African countries the eligible age ranges from 18 to 20 years
All applicants who are applying for a postgraduate degree in must have had a first class in their first degree or a minimum of a second class upper (2.1)
Applicants who were once a foreign award recipient must have completed a 2 year post qualification or Employment Practice in Nigeria
All applicants should have completed his/her N.Y.S.C.
Age limit is for postgraduate in Master’s level is 35 years and 40 years for Ph.D level and only:
1.) N.Y.S.C certificate or exemption certificates are accepted;
2.) Proof of eagerness to be released by the employer.
i) Since the BEA countries do not speak English Language. Applicant should be ready to take language courses in a level that the applicant would be able to take instructions in the institutions;
ii) Applicants in Japan are required to be very good in mathematics
iii) The needed certificates for applicants who are applying for Quaranic Professor in Algeria and Iman Preachers is WAEC as it is in other scholarships;

As disclosed punchng.com – N73,169,907 has been set aside by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the scholarships to award 3,700 students in eligible Nigerian universities, including polytechnics and colleges of education.
We also learned that 272 students will be awarded scholarship awards to study in any foreign country that have Bilateral Education Agreement with the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The 272 students who will receive scholarships to study in countries that have bilateral education agreement with Nigeria will receive about N13,000,000.
Candidates who wish to apply for this BEA award scholarship should submit two sets of completed application forms at the various JAMB CBT centers with the following attachments:
A couple of sets of Photocopies of Testimonials and Educational Certificates of previous schools attended by he candidate with the originals for reference or sighting;
Only one certificate will be accepted for WEAC for Undergraduates.
Candidate’s Birth Certificate from the National Population Commission (2 copies);
State/local government certificate of origin duly signed
The four copies of coloured passport photographs with a white background
Graduate applicants will be required to submit NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter, including academic transcript
NB: All eligible applicants will be required to come for interview on the communicated venue a day before the interview.
All applicants who are nominated will be required to submit to the federal scholarship board the following documents:
Authenticated/original copies of required academic certificates;
Data page of the candidate’s current International passport;
Official Medical Reports obtained from Government hospitals
Application Closing Date
The application closes January every year.
